The Leica SL lenses are full-frame AF lenses designed for professional needs. With the highest image performance at every aperture and distance, the new Leica SL Auto-focus is the fastest AF available for full-frame system cameras. The SL lenses are silent and offer precise AF. All SL lenses have an AquaDura hydrophobic coating on the outer lens elements. The lenses are sealed to protect from dust and water.
The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 1: 2,8-4 / 24-90mm ASPH. has a large focal length spread and high light intensity. The near distance of 0.3 m in the wide angle position and the maximum magnification of 1: 3.8 in the telephoto position allow fascinating perspectives. The optical image stabilization allows an extension of the exposure times by up to 3.5 f-stops. Among the total of 18 lenses, which are divided into six movable assemblies, are four aspherical lenses and eleven lenses made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion for the correction of chromatic aberrations. A single, very light single lens is moved to focus. With the help of the specially developed motor concept, consisting of a stepper motor and a linear guide, it is thus possible to focus very quickly, quietly and precisely. The supplied lens hood effectively suppresses disturbing reflections and stray light due to its rectangular shape.

The Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–90 f/2.8–4 ASPH. is the versatile standard zoom in the SL-System for those whose work demands both flexibility and the highest image quality. The wide zoom range from 24 to 90 millimeters allows you to switch from a wide angle to the normal range to short telephoto, without taking your eye from the viewfinder. As a result, this lens is equally suitable for travel, reportage and studio photography, as well as for documentary work. Thanks to optical image stabilization, you can extend exposure time by up to 3.5 aperture stops to achieve excellent results even in variable lighting conditions.
The Strengths of the 24–90 mm SL Zoom Lens
Using your 24 mm, you render space and surroundings precisely, maintaining consistent, stable line geometry. In the normal range, you work with natural viewpoints. At 90 mm, you aim for clear subject separation and subtly compressed perspective.

Design Details
Among the 18 lenses in total, arranged in six groups, there are four aspherical lenses and 11 lenses made of glass with anomalous partial dispersion to correct chromatic aberration. A single, very lightweight lens element moves for focus. With the help of a specially designed motor, made up of a stepping motor and linear positioning, focus can be achieved quickly, quietly and accurately down to the close focus distance of just 30 cm at 24 mm. And the lens length does not change in the process. The supplied lens hood suppresses disruptive reflections and light scatter very effectively thanks to its rectangular form. The robust metal housing protects against dust and splash water.
