Shimoda Action X40 v3 Backpack Starter Kit
Shimoda's Action X adventure outdoor camera backpacks have been to the peak of Mount Everest and to the farthest reaches of the globe. They are built to comfortably carry camera gear not just all day long, but for days at a time.
Shimoda's fully modular Core Unit system ensures that creators never carry more weight or bulk than necessary and that the bag interior can be quickly adapted to camera systems from small to large. The height-adjustable harness and removable waist belt can be dialed-in to fit users from 5-feet (1.5M) tall all the way to 6'8" (2 meters) (when used with optional Booster Kit). When paired with the included Medium DSLR Core Unit, the Action X40 Starter Kit will fit a gripped mirrorless or DSLR camera (up to 6.7 in or 17cm tall) with 3-5 lenses, up to an attached 70-200mm 2.8, and the rear laptop sleeve will protect a laptop up to 16 inches (40 cm).
The X40 meets most international carry-on regulations. This 40 liter backpack can expand to 47 liters when needed by extending the 7-liter rolltop. It will fit Core Units as small as the Small DSLR Core Unit for more compact camera kits, and it will fit up to the XL40 RST Core Unit to maximize the entire interior space for camera gear and fit an attached 180-600/200-600mm lens, or an unattached 600mm 4.0.
The X40 is also compatible with Shimoda's optional small, medium and large Top Loader camera bags for users who want an internal camera cube that can be carried separately from the backpack with a shoulder strap.

New Larger Side Access
Access up to 2 cameras with mounted lenses. Larger side access also compatible with Shimoda's optional Large Top Loader bag which can be removed from the backpack and carried on its own as a shoulder bag.
New 35L Pro Kit
The most requested new size. At 20 inchers tall, the 35L is one inch shorter than the existing 40L pack so it meets stricter international carry-on regulations. This new Pro Pack ships with the Large DSLR Core Unit so it's ready off-the-shelf to fit two cameras and 4-6 lenses, or a camera with a superzoom 180-600/200-600mm lens..
Multiple Capture Clip Mounting Points
Updated from Shimoda's original Capture Strap, there are now Capture Clip mounting points on both harness straps as well as the waist belt.

Expandable Rolltop Access: Rolltop access allows the pack to be adjusted to your gear needs while still maintaining a tight and compact fit. The rolltop can expand with a volume range of 7 liters. The top section also has an additional quick-access YKK SplashGuard zipper that makes getting at your gear extremely quick and easy, especially in foul weather.
Shimoda Medium DSLR Core Unit
The Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 integrates seamlessly with the side access of the Action X40, X50, and Explore 35 backpacks. It will also fit in our Carry On and DV rollers.
It includes all the popular features of our Core Unit system, including EVA laminated dividers and sidewalls, a lightweight and versatile removable skin, and an aluminum frame to add extra rigidity and support.
The DSLR depth is ideal for mirrorless and DSLR cameras (including gripped bodies) up to 16 cm (6.3 in) tall along with lenses as long as a 70-200mm 2.8.

Pro Mirrorless/DSLR Camera Fit: Designed to fit mid- to Pro-size camera equipment such as gripped Mirrorless or gripped DSLR bodies as tall as the Canon EOS-1DX or Nikon D5 with lenses as long as 70-200mm 2.8. It is designed to fit gear with greater depth requirements, though it is just as useful for protecting a larger kit of mirrorless or compact DSLR gear.

Modular Stacking: The Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 Unit allows a user the option to stack a Small Core Unit on top of the Medium -- creating similar volume to a Large insert. By doing this you can have greater range of owning both Medium and Small Core Units. For example: you have the option of using just the Small Unit, just a Medium Unit, or using both together to equal a Large Core Unit volume.

Lightweight Water-Resistant & Multi-purpose Skin: The included Skin’s primary function is a storage case for the padded Core Units, ideal for when your gear is at home and not in use. It keeps the Core Unit sealed and dust free. Its secondary function is to use as a packing cell. A user can fill it with clothing or other common items and pack it in their backpack or carry-on roller.

EVA Protective Shell and Dividers: Walls and dividers are constructed with EVA which ensures much greater protection than cheaper PE foams used in most camera bags. With EVA we have greater control over the density and quality of materials used to protect your gear. It also means our walls can be thinner and use less internal volume while still providing superior protection.
