All metal exterior, weather and dust-resistant and -10°C
The lens exterior uses all metal parts to ensure it is durable enough for a wide variety of shooting situations. The fine texture of the metal parts further enhance the shooting experience and ensure it can be operated easily and accurately with wet or gloved hands. The lens features a weather- and dust-resistant structure with eight seals on the lens barrel keeping the lens protected from rain, dust and splashes of water when shooting outdoors. It can also work in temperatures as low as -10°C.
Two types of lens hood
Lens hoods block unnecessary light from entering the lens to maintain the maximum optical performance. There are two types of lens hood available for the XF35mmF2 R WR. A lightweight and compact circular lens hood is included with it and a classical and stylish metal hood LH-XF35-2 is available for purchase as an optional accessory. Both lens hoods allow the front lens cap to be used while attached.

Features of the Focus Motor installed in the lens:
There are three types of lens Focus Motors: DC coreless motors, linear motors, and stepping motors. It is adopted according to the characteristics of the lens.

DC Coreless Motor: High torque due to the large force that moves the focus lens. This is suitable for high-speed driving of a heavy lens, such as when all groups are extended. Compared to other linear motors and stepping motors, the drive noise is a little louder.

Linear Motor: The lens driving sound during focusing is very quiet. Suitable for high-speed AF drive because the motor drives linearly. The mounted lens is described as LM in the name.
It uses multiple motors to drive large or heavy focus lenses due to its low torque. Positioning accuracy is higher. Suitable for lenses that drive some lenses such as inner focus. When the camera is turned off, the drive unit is free, so if you change the direction of the lens, there will be a sound inside, but this is not a problem.

Stepping Motor: Compared to DC coreless motors and linear motors, they are smaller because they do not require position detection. In the case of moving images and still images, the driving sound is quiet because the driving method can be changed.
The AF speed is slightly slower than the DC coreless motor/linear motor.
The position accuracy of the focus lens is high.
What is the level of water and dust resistance in the WR lenses?
The target products are dustproof and splashproofing. Dustproof and splashproof lenses with WR in their names can be used in light rain or in dusty environments by attaching them to a dustproof and splashproof camera (*).
In addition, if you continue to use it while it is wet for a long time, water may seep inside, so if it
gets wet due to rain, etc., and immediately wipes off the water droplets and stores them.
*When using the camera, be sure to firmly close the terminal cap, cover, and lid of the camera.
Why does it take a long time to appear a recorded image after shooting?
While changing from shooting mode to playback mode with a lens using a stepping motor, the focus lenses in the lens moves back to the initial position. In some cases, it takes for the focus lenses to do so because the moving distance is relatively long. In such a case, It takes a long time to appear a recorded image after shooting.
